3 Fun Things to do in the rain at
Hocking Hills State Park
They say April
showers bring May flowers. And it's supposed to make us feel
better about sitting inside and watching it pour after a long, cold
winter. But it doesn't seem to help when your only day off is
calling for 100% rain showers. Don't threaten the weatherman! You
can still have lots of fun in the Hocking Hills. And here's just a
few ways to get the most out of the day:
1) Grab an
umbrella and your kids and hike to Ash Cave. It's only about a 1/2
mile hike back to the recess cave and you can sit in the huge cave
shelter while the kids play in the sand.
2) Shop the
Shops-Make your first stop the Hocking Hills Flea Market on State
Route 33 between Lancaster and Logan. Then you can find loads of
little shops tucked into the hills-
Ravenwood Castle and more!
Don't forget to
stop in Nelsonville, Ohio at
Rocky Boots- and get some great buys on clothing, boots and home
décor! They've got a restaurant there now too!
3) Stop in at
the Hocking Hills Welcome Center just off State Route 33 in Logan.

Escape
the everyday and escape to the Wilder Side of Ohio. . .
There isn't a season in the Hocking Hills that isn't bursting with
something to do. Summer is full of cool hiking trails deep in the
gorge. Fall offers beautiful views of autumn leaf colors and Winter
has frozen waterfalls and Winter Hike. And then, there is Spring.
Spring in the Hocking Hills means the ear-numbing flow of more than
a handful of waterfalls broken free from the ice and gushing over
cliff edges. It is long hikes beneath trees bursting with leaflets
and a multitude of wildflower colors sprouting out of the dull,
brown carpet of last year's autumn leaves. There is nothing better
than watching nature blow life back into the earth with warm, spring
breezes. And seeing the world explode in deep greens, reds and sky
blues in the surrounding Appalachian Hillsides. |

The park is open all year long so you can hike
from dawn to dusk 365 days a year in the Hocking Hills. But at
Hocking Hills State Park you MUST
stay on the trails. That means no hiking along the cliff
edges and no jumping in the
waterfalls.
