Places to Play in the Hocking Hills Region You won't believe how many parks, wildlife areas and historical places there are to enjoy in the Hocking Hills
Region! And
each has its own unique personality. There's camping, hunting, swimming and
loads of free outdoor fun for the family.
Most of the state parks in the area have at least a seasonal naturalist providing outdoor educational programs. You can plan a trip around a special event or just come and enjoy the programs each park offers.
Hocking Hills State Park-Home of Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave and Cedar Falls. There are monthly events and weekly naturalist programs for free family fun. There are over 25 miles of hiking trails, a campground, cottages and seasonal restaurant and gift shop. 20160 State Route 664
Lake Logan- This park is not far from State Route 33 and has boat docks. Stocked with crappie and saugeye, it's touted as one of the best fishing spots in Ohio. There are places to picnic and a beach. 30443 Lake Logan Road
Hocking State Forest-99 acres of this forest have been set aside for rock climbing and rappelling. 19275 S.R. 374
Tar Hollow State Park-Camping, boating, fishing and hunting are Tar Hollow's claim to fame. A section of the Buckeye Trail passes through the area. 16396 Tar Hollow Road
Tar Hollow State Forest-Ohio's third largest state forest with over 22 miles of trails and a 48 site horse camp.

Zaleski State Forest-Best known for its 23.5 acre backpacking trail and 10 mile day loop.

Lake Hope State Park-Just outside Zaleski, Ohio. Visitors to the park can still see a part of the Hope Iron Furnace and stroll past the famous "haunted" Moonville Tunnel. There are over 17 miles of trails, a campground and cottages too.

Lake Alma State Park-Right outside the bounds of Wellston, this park boasts a small lake with an bridge-accessible island. Lake Alma was a small amusement park a hundred years ago complete with merry-go-round and a dance pavilion. Now, visitors to the park can fish, boat, swim at the beach or camp. Buckeye Furnace State Memorial-North of Wellston, this reconstructed charcoal-fired iron furnace run by the Ohio Historical Society even has the original stack, a general store and a couple trails. 123 Buckeye Park Rd. T-167 Park Hours: Open Year around daylight. Museum Hours: April -Memorial Day. By Appointment.
Leo Petroglyph-Features a trail leading to human, animal and footprint historical rock carvings from the Fort Ancient Indians. Open: Year around. Daylight hours. c/o Site Operations Department
