So where are the Hocking Hills? Try these directions for finding the park!

From Columbus, Ohio:
Take U.S. 33 East through Lancaster to Logan, Ohio and exit onto State Route 664 South

From Cleveland, Ohio:
Take I-71 South to Columbus.
Take 270 East toward Wheeling, WV to U.S. 33 East (Lancaster Exit)
Travel East to Logan, Exit on 664 South.

From Cincinnati, Ohio:
Take I-71 North towards Columbus.
Watch for and take State Route 56 East through Mt. Sterling.
Continue on State Route 56 East through Circleville and Laurelville to South Bloomingville, Ohio.
In South Bloomingville take State Route 664 North approximately 4 miles to the park.

From Toledo, Ohio:
Take I –75 South to Findlay, get on State Route 23 to Columbus.
Take I-270 East towards Wheeling to U.S. 33 East (Lancaster Exit).
Travel East to the Logan, Exit 664 South.

From Logan, Ohio:
Take 664 South approximately 12 miles to park area.

January 15th                  40th Annual Winter Hike

Continuous starts from 9 am to 11 am. Enjoy Winter's splendor on this 6 mile trek from Old Man's Cave to Ash Cave. Layered clothing and appropriate footwear recommended. Refreshments are available at Cedar Falls for a donation. A shuttle bus returns hikers to Old Man's Cave.

February 12  

5-7 pm                    Sweethearts Hike

Meet at the Ash Cave parking lot.  Take your sweetheart for a romantic stroll to Ash Cave in the soft light of dusk.  Afterward, enjoy a cozy fire and refreshments.

March 12 and 13  

12 pm to 4 pm  

Maple Sugaring in the Hills

Join us at the Naturalist Cabin located behind the Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center.  Savor the taste of the season as we boil down our local maple sap.  Discover the many methods used throughout history to make this tasty treat.  Free samples are available.

April 15-17       

Shoot the Hills Nature Photo Weekend

Nature photo program, slide shows, and photography contest.  Open to amateurs and pros alike.  Competing for great prizes and awards.   Free information and tips from the pros.  Registration on Friday.  For more information see the park website.

April 16 

10 am                Wildflowers and Waterfalls Hike

Observe nature’s carpet of wildflowers and sparkling waterfalls in beautiful Hocking Hills.  Meet at the parking lot at Ash Cave.

May 7 12 pm to 4pm          Frontier Trail Hike

Explore the history of the Hocking Hills region with a walk back through time dramatized by costumed interpreters along Ash Cave trail.

August 12  

Star Seekers Shower Search Begins at 8 pm (weather permitting)

Bring a blanket or you’re favorite lawn chair and come on down to the field at Hocking Hills Dining Lodge.  Spend a night under the stars while we watch the Persied meteor shower and explore the planets, comets, and other mysteries of the night sky.

September 17   

Hocking Hills Indian Run   Begins at 9 am

Challenge yourself on a 5, 10, 20, or even a 60-kilometer course.  Call 1-800-HOCKING for details and registration information.

October 15 

Grandma Gatewood's Fall Colors Hike  

1 pm

Bring along a cool drink and celebrate the seasons colors.  Meet with the naturalist at the Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center for a strenuous hike that spans roughly 6 miles of the Grandma Gatewood trail.   We will be traversing the section that runs from Old Man’s Cave to Cedar Falls and back while enjoying the scenic beauty and cultural personality.  This hike does include several hills and steps and is not recommended for the easily winded individual.  (Approx. 3 to4 hrs)

October 28 and 29        Halloween Campout 

Registered campers can enjoy a hayride, pumpkin decorating, food, night hike, campfire, costume & site judging, and trick or treat at Old Man’s Cave campground.  Regular camping fees apply.

December 10 

Christmas in Ash Cave  

5-7 pm

Step away from the hectic holiday season and come bundled for the weather while enjoying a lighted stroll back to Ash Cave.  Once you arrive at the cave warm with refreshments by an open fire.  Listen to or join with our carolers, have the kids visit with an old fashion Santa or help to decorate our Christmas tree for wildlife.
