Hocking Hills Winter Hike gets record crowds with
over 5417 hikers along the trail.

 January 16th was a cool day. But compared to the
14 degree weather the week before, it was like a warm spring afternoon
at 41 degrees. Winter Hike turned out
to be the perfect antidote for the rash of cabin
fever spreading across the Midwest. Visitors from
all over the United States showed up to take the
annual snowy 6 mile trek from Old Man's Cave to Ash
Cave. Snowy cliffs, icy waterfalls, and a cornbread
and bean soup meal made the hike a huge success.
Heart of Hocking Staff
got the honor of once again bringing up the rear of
the hike to make sure everyone was accounted for and
got a bus ride back to Old Man's Cave. You can find

Winter Hike seems to mark the coldest part of the
year. Once it is over, we tend to look to the next
couple months in the Hocking Hills to be a bit
warmer (25-35 degrees) and much snowier (Ohio snows
seem to come in February and early March).
Regardless, it gives us a bit of hope that the worst
of the winter is over and spring is on its way. To
celebrate the oncoming spring, some of our cabin
owners are offering discounts so you can come out
and catch a glimpse of snow and cascading waterfalls
before they disappear into summer.
